Wanna learn more about one of the lesser talked best Pokemon Online decks in our Standard Lost Origin format? Well, your boy Zach Lesage has your back! I recently took 雷吉奇卡斯 (Astral Radiance) for a spin at Peoria Regionals, and I placed 23rd out of nearly 1100 participants! I could’ve easily played the same Origin Forme Palkia VSTAR (Astral Radiance) / Inteleon (Sword and Shield) list as my teammate Calvin Connor, but I had a different view on the metagame (and still do). With powerful Comfey (Lost Origin) / Radiant Charizard (Pokemon GO) decks crushing the Late Night series events, I knew that Regis would have a solid matchup against it. They essentially would have to take an early KO on any Regi with Cramorant (Lost Origin) with some help from either Articuno (Pokemon Go) or Galarian Zigzagoon (Sword and Shield). Giratina VSTAR (Lost Origin) is a similar matchup, but you can always use Regieleki (Evolving Skies) to snipe a Giratina V (Lost Origin) on the Bench and sweep up with 雷吉德拉戈 (Evolving Skies) for the remaining 240 damage. Kyurem VMAX (Lost Origin) decks have largely been a relatively easy matchup, but some do play Empoleon V (Battle Styles) which can stop any Regi deck from functioning. Most lists either play Boss’s Orders (Rebel Clash), 取消古龙水 (Astral Radiance), and/or 通往顶峰的道路 (Chilling Reign) to get around it. I could spend another paragraph or so sharing the good, but I’m sure you get my point; Regis is one of the best decks in the format. In this blog, I’m going to share my two most current lists for this deck, some strategies, and more! The ultimate goal of the Regis deck is to get one of each Regi in play to be able to use Regigigas’ Ancient Wisdom Ability and then you can pick and choose the best option for the Pokemon you are battling against. Registeel, Regirock, and Regice (Astral Radiance) all have Regi Gate, which can help get you out of tough situations. If you have a dead hand, you can always search for a 雷吉德拉戈 (Astral Radiance) to use Dragon’s Hoard or maybe a Regieleki to attach a Speed Lightning Energy (Rebel Clash) to draw a few cards. If you can avoid it, don't attack with 雷吉德拉戈 ASR because if it gets Knocked Out, you won’t have access to Dragon’s Hoard. It doesn’t seem like much, but when your opponent plays Roxanne (Astral Radiance) against you and OHKOs Regidrago ASR, you can absolutely spiral out of control. 雷吉奇卡斯 is strong against VMAX Pokemon and can KO lower HP Pokemon V, like Crobat V (Darkness Ablaze), with a Choice Belt (Brilliant Stars). Regidrago EVS can OHKO most Pokemon V, like Kyurem V (Lost Origin), and can KO a fair amount of Pokemon VSTAR with a Choice Belt attached. Regieleki is great against Origin Forme Palkia VSTAR decks, but it can also spread damage against single Prize Card decks. Regirock is going to be MVP against Hisuian Zoroark VSTAR (Lost Origin) decks, Arceus VSTAR (Brilliant Stars) decks, and Blissey V (Chilling Reign) decks. Registeel doesn’t really have a strong presence in the metagame, but I have used it quite effectively to OHKO Pokemon that have Air Balloon (Sword and Shield) attached and Inteleon. Regice can sometimes slow down Pokemon V, but I haven’t had much success with that strategy in tournaments. Remember to keep track of your available Energy, your vital cards like Oridinary Rod (Sword and Shield), and that you have the right Regis in play. This deck isn’t terribly difficult to play, but it is hard to manage your resources in a timely manner. This deck is clearly well-positioned right now, so let’s check out my list.

After looking at Alex Schemanske’s winning Lost Zone Box from the Late Night close to Peoria, I realized that I could apply some aspects of his list to 雷吉奇卡斯. With the Lost Origin format being fresh, I knew that Empoleon V was going to see a bunch of play heading into Peoria to deal with all the “Lost Zone” engine decks that were tearing up online events. I knew I had limited options to stop Empoleon V’s Ability, but I ultimately went with 取消古龙水 because I could grab it from PokeStop (Pokemon GO). It wasn’t anything crazy, but it was unique to myself and a few other of my friends who decided to play it for the event. Ultimately it ended up working well enough, and I finished in the top 32 players. The only other special thing about the list I played was playing an extra copy of Regigigas and three total copies of Regidrago. Both of those decisions can be chalked up to having answers for Lost City (Lost Origin), which was incredibly popular in Mew VMAX (Fusion Strike) decks and having answers to the expected metagame. In hindsight, I might’ve changed my list a bit, and we’ll get there in a bit, but here is the list I played:

After seeing many of the best players in the game playing Regis at Peoria, I decided to look into their lists a little bit more. Many players, like Azul Garcia Griego, played 通往顶峰的道路 in their lists to get around Empoleon V and other uses. Other uses can be anything, but I’m sure it helped against Kyurem VMAX, Mew VMAX, and Radiant Greninja. While I might end up missing PokeStop to discard a few Special Energy along the way, I think Path is certainly a great choice going forward. Unless the metagame drastically changes heading into Salt Lake City or Warsaw Regionals, I’m probably going to play something like this:

I should note that at the time of writing, 礼品能量 (Lost Origin) has been temporarily banned from PTCGO due to a glitch that will be fixed in an upcoming patch. This has obviously impacted the results of the deck at recent online events, but you can always replace those two cards for extra Speed Lightning Energy to get a feel for the deck. It might not be the 100% exact same, but it will allow you to play the deck. Let’s pray for a speedy patch so we can all enjoy this awesome deck!
