Getting Ready for Silver Tempest
What’s poppin PTCGO Store readers? Have you started looking at all of the amazing cards from Pokemon TCG’s latest set, Silver Tempest? I’ve been preparing for the 2022 Latin America International Championships in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and I’m here to share some of my early findings. At the time of my writing, this article set has basically been fully released, we have limited official English images, but I have a bunch of Japanese translations from trustworthy sites. I guess what I’m trying to say is that it is early, so don’t necessarily come after me if some of these card names slightly change when translated into English or if there is an amazing card that I happened to miss out on. I love writing articles like this because it allows me to brainstorm about upcoming cards and share my passion for the game with our community. If you are trying to pick up any Silver Tempest PTCGO codes to build some new Pokemon online decks, be sure to use code zlesage5 right here at ptcgostore.com to save 5% off your order. Super fast delivery right to your email and a large selection of codes! That being said, let’s jump right into this list!
5. Archeops

In most Pokemon TCG sets, we get access to Energy acceleration, but rarely in the history of the game have we had access to Special Energy acceleration. That's where 始祖鸟 (Silver Tempest) kicks down the door with its fantastic Primal Turbo Ability! Primal Turbo allows you to accelerate up to two Special Energy from your deck to one of your Pokemon - and that means you have a lot of options to choose from. In our Sword and Shield to Silver Tempest format, we have so many great options. Powerful Colorless Energy (Darkness Ablaze) allows you to do extra damage, Aurora Energy (Sword and Shield) counts as any Energy, and V Guard Energy (Silver Tempest) allows you to reduce damage. As we see more and more Special Energy getting released, I’m sure we will see more and more usage of Archeops. 洛奇亚VSTAR (Silver Tempest) can summon up to two copies of Archeops into play with its VSTAR Ability which is likely going to be the go-to way to get Archeops into play. I’m sure we will see a bunch of crazy ideas with this card in the same way that Mirage Gate (Lost Origin) can power up almost anything!
4. Regidrago VSTAR

In a world where Origin Forme Palkia VSTAR (Astral Radiance) has only one attack, 雷吉德拉格 VSTAR (Silver Tempest) can copy any attack from a Dragon-type Pokemon from your discard pile. There are plenty of great options to copy, and a lot of those decisions remind me of Mewtwo & Mew-GX (Unified Minds). Garchomp V (Astral Radiance) can snipe anything for 220 damage, Giratina VSTAR (Lost Origin) can OHKO any VSTAR Pokemon, and Dragonite (Silver Tempest) can accelerate Energy. Beyond debating on what Dragon-type Pokemon to include in this deck, it is quite divisive on how to get Regidrago VSTAR rolling. I have seen many lists using Comfey, Colress’s Experiment, and Mirage Gate (Lost Origin), a few using Arceus VSTAR (Brilliant Stars), and a handful using Gardenia’s Vigor (Astral Radiance). Regardless of how you decide to play Regidrago VSTAR, I’m sure you’ll have plenty of great options to choose from.
3. Lugia VSTAR

You are looking at one of the most powerful (and most hyped) cards from Silver Tempest, 洛奇亚VSTAR. Ever since I first learned about Lugia from Pokemon the Movie 2000, I’ve been a fan, and I’m hyped to see it get printed as one of the best attacking Pokemon in Standard. I’ve already gone over its Assemble VSTAR Ability, so I’m gonna showcase its Storm Dive attack. It hits for a solid base of 220 damage, but with some help from 始祖鸟, Powerful Colorless Energy, and Choice Belt, you can do enough damage to start OHKOing Pokemon VSTAR / VMAX. You can also go another route with Radiant Gardevoir (Lost Origin), V Guard Energy, and Big Charm (Sword and Shield) for a tanker build. I’m sure we will see a bunch of ideas floating around for Lugia VSTAR, and I’m really excited to see how it does at LAIC.
2. Forest Seal Stone

Being able to give any Pokemon V a VSTAR Ability is crazy, and Forest Seal Stone (Silver Tempest) does just that! Imagine having a freebie Ability on Crobat V (Darkness Ablaze) or Lumineon V (Brilliant Stars) that allows you to search for any single card. Think about all of the times when you were just one card off - this card can quite literally change that. The wildest thing about Forest Seal Stone is that the VSTAR Ability doesn’t count as an Ability for Path to the Peak (Chilling Reign), which means Mew VMAX (Fusion Strike), a deck that relies heavily on Genesect V’s Ability, can freely search for a card to get rid of Path. I’m not sure of the basis of the ruling, but it is totally official, and it has made this card that much more appealing.
1. Serena

Here we are with my personal choice for the best card in Silver Tempest, 塞雷娜 (Silver Tempest). Serena is a card filled with choices, two of them, in fact, that fill the game with options. You can either use the first effect to pitch up to three cards from your hand and draw cards until you have five cards in your hand total, or you can gust up one of your opponent’s Pokemon V to the Active Spot. So kind of an alright draw supporter or a slightly lesser Boss’s Orders (Rebel Clash). Beyond having the power of options, this can also free up valuable deck slots for other tech cards because you might be able to run fewer Boss’s Orders and other draw cards. I’m sure this card will see plenty of success in many decks to come so be sure to pick some up!
测试时间
After looking at these five amazing cards, are you hyped? Did I miss any cards that you are hyped for? I do wanna say that the above cards are geared to more of the competitive player base, but there are many collectable cards in this set too. If you look at the Alternate Art Lugia V (Silver Tempest) or the Alternate Art Regidrago V (Silver Tempest), you can’t help feeling that you wanna crack open some packs. This set is jam-packed with playable, collectables, and so much more! If you haven’t already, feel free to use code zlesage5 to save 5% when picking Pokemon TCG online codes here at the PTCGO store! I’m still playing in the Lost Origin format because I’m off to Warsaw, Poland, for their Regional Championships next, but I get to experience this format first-hand at LAIC 2022 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Stay tuned for some more awesome content, and I’ll catch up with all of you later!
